The 2013 edition belonged to the Dominican Republic, which remains the only team in WBC history to win the tournament without losing a single game, a perfect run from the first game to the championship.

 

In 2017, the United States, the country that founded the tournament, won its first title. Then in 2023, Japan claimed its third championship in a final that featured a memorable MLB teammate matchup between Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.
